About us

We are Karen and Stef Harnell. We live in Warrington, Cheshire.

From seeing my first Raggie in an issue of Cat World in 1987 - I was smitten and decided there and then that at some future date when we had settled somewhere permanent (Stef was then in the RAF Reg't) we would own one of these beautiful cats.

Moving forward 10 years and on arrival back in the North West and after the loss of a dearly beloved moggie, the time had come to realize my ambition and I began my research in earnest on “The Ragdoll”. I bought the books, surfed the net, and spoke to several breeders. In October 1997 we found a breeder, Chris Hodcroft in Bury, breeding under the Chesawood prefix, who invited us to see some kittens she had….and after fortnightly visits to Chris's home eventually in December 1997 we brought home our seal mitted girl, Chesawood China Blue. Chris had suggested we might like to show China. Showing hadn't even entered our minds at that point but we looked into it and decided to give it a go - 8 years and four Ragdolls later we can say it did change our lives…bringing us into contact with many like-minded people and gaining many good friends. We have also served (and still do) on various Cat Club committees. The highlight of our showing so far was back in 2001 at The British Ragdoll Cat Show in Telford when Tazzie (Charismagic Dreamweaver) beat 90 odd other Ragdolls to become Overall Best in Show as a 9 month old.

In 2003, after a lot of thought and discussion with our breeder friends, we decided we would venture into breeding ourselves. Our aim is to breed beautiful, large, healthy, happy cats with the temperament for which the breed is famous. We are breeding from traditional lines and only the traditional colours (seal and blue) and patterns.
