RAGDOLL RESCUE & REHOMING – WHY?

Why do we need a Ragdoll rescue?

COCO

Meet Coco, a 6 year old Raggie who recently came into our care.  What you cannot see from the photo is how badly matted her coat is; how underweight and wheezy she is nor how depressed.

Coco needs YOUR help.

She is currently with a foster carer who is battling to bring her through and who has shed a few tears in her fight to bring her back to full health.  Indeed, most of us at The RRG have been moved by this brave little Raggie’s plight.

Coco came into our care along with 3 other cats.  From the start it was obvious Coco has been suffering from neglect for some time.

Result: she has now had the majority of her teeth removed.

Result:  she now has to start from scratch with her vaccinations.

Result: she has now been neutered

Result: she has had to be shaved which emphasises how underweight she had become.

We appreciate these may be  distressing photos but on this occasion
we make no apologies for showing them.

Last week we almost lost her when it all seemed to get too much for Coco but thanks in the main to the TLC lavished upon her and the determination of the foster carer Coco fights on but, it has to be said, is still not out of the woods.

Whilst Coco is in heated quarters we feel she may benefit from a little coat to help keep her warm until her fur grows back.  So please – if you are handy with knitting needles or even a crochet hook(!) we would be grateful if someone could provide Coco with her own little jacket/(s).  If you think you could help with this please contact Dawn on 01442 381509 or Dawnsragshaven@aol.com.

We would also very much appreciate any donations towards the veterinary costs for Coco’s care and those of the other three cats.

Your support is so much appreciated.

People find it difficult to believe that anyone would give up their Ragdolls to be rehomed. Well, sadly, it does happen and that is why we are here - a group of breeders and pet owners all over the country to help these cats that are placed in this situation.

There are many reasons for owners having to give up their much loved pets and are forced into finding new families and homes. This is where we come in.   We are here to listen and help in any way we can.  If you have any problems and think we can help then please do phone one of our numbers and have a chat to us.

Main reasons for the cats to be rehomed

1. Partnership break up
2. Having to move to a smaller home
3. Allergies
4. Babies
5. Deaths of owners
6. Moved to a new home and not allowed pets

To name but a few.

All we want to do is help to find the right home and family for the cats that are being given up as we fully understand that for many owners this is such a hard thing for them to do.  They need to know that the cats will be loved and cared for

We have everyone home checked by a group of helpers right across the country we match the families to the cats needs.  We speak a great length  to the owners giving up their pets and find as much information about them as possible to pass onto the new family.

We try to make everything as easy as we can for the cats move to their new home with as little stress as possible

If for any reason you need help in looking for a new home please let us help you just ring us we are very experienced in the work we do
